Boozy Sno Cones: The Perfect Summer Cocktail
FUN FACT: Growing up, my Mom owned a sno cone stand where I spent most of my summers working and experimenting with fun flavor combinations… so it should come as no surprise that I have a very special place in my heart for these frozen summer treats. On any given vacation, you can find me trying to hunt down a shaved ice spot to give myself a little taste of home and summer.
Recently, I was looking for cocktail inspiration for an upcoming dinner party when I came across this fabulous recipe for Boozy Sno Cones and based off my first taste test, I have a feeling this summertime cocktail will have you and your guests coming back for refills! What more can you ask for — booze and shaved ice?! Sign me up!
This recipe is quick, easy, and super refreshing:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup lime juice
1/4 cup baker’s sugar
3 oz tequila
key lime wheels for garnish
Directions:
Add the lime juice and the baker’s sugar to a mixing bowl or measuring cup and stir thoroughly until the sugar has dissolved.
Stir in the tequila and place in the refrigerator to chill.
When it comes to liquor, the choice is all yours, however, my go-to in the summer is tequila with a splash of Cointreau! I add just enough to get the party started, well… enough so my gals and I could go for that second or third snow cone!
To get that fluffy shaved iced, add ice cubes into your blender/ food processor/ or snow cone maker. Once you achieve that snow-like consistency, it’s ready! If you don’t have any of these machines, do not worry- you can substitute using this granita recipe.
Add the crushed ice into snow cone cups (I like to mold the top into round tops old school style) and gently pour the liquid lime + tequila mixture over the top of your ice.
Add slices of lemon, lime, or grapefruit to compliment the mix on deck! It is the perfect finishing touch!
*Disclaimer: If you are not of legal age, please substitute the liquor for your favorite juice.*
