Let’s Get Latinx Loud!
Latinx Heritage Month officially kicks off today and runs through October 15 — and yes, we’re so big and bad that our celebration lasts through two months! ;)
As a proud Mexican-Rican, I celebrate my Latinx community all year long, but taking the time to honor our community this month is important because it highlights and honors the success and splendor of this community to everyone else and to the next generation of Latinx leaders and trailblazers.
If a little girl sees Latinx women and their stories reflected on screen and in books she will feel seen. She’ll know that her story matters and that anything is possible for her because other strong Latinx women have paved the way.
It’s vital for each of us to use our voices and whatever platform we have to elevate the Latinx community. In the last year, I’ve shared 19 Latinx-Owned Brands on the blog and explained why We Won’t Be Invisible in the media.
I also believe in championing community causes that need our attention, such as fertility inequality and reproductive health education.
